Holy Week at St Mary's
Over this last week, Reverend Simon has visited St Mary’s School every day, to share with us the special events of Holy Week. Each day Simon and a crew of happy helpers wonderfully re-enacted the last week of Jesus’ life here on earth.
On Monday, Simon taught about Palm Sunday, many of the children acted out the story using props, a real delight for everyone taking part and watching.
On Tuesday we looked at Maundy Thursday, where the disciples met and enjoyed The Last Supper together.
This was then followed by the events of Good Friday, the incredible act of love and sacrifice seen, when Jesus died on the cross to show the way to friendship with God.
Finally, today we celebrated new life in the resurrection of Jesus. He brings hope to all and shows God’s power over death.
We really enjoyed our collective worship times together. It has been a lovely way to think and reflect on a very special time in the church’s calendar. We are really grateful to Simon, for all you have shared with us this week, we have all really appreciated it.
