Autumn 1 review

Date: 16th Dec 2024 @ 4:08pm

Congratulations to all the children for completing their first half term in school. They have been learning lots of new things including our school rules and routines. We focused on 'What is special about me' and found out all about ourselves and each other. We began to develop our fine motor skills and made some lovely self-portraits.
In maths we have been exploring numbers to 3 in lots of detail. Composing, comparing and representing them in different ways. We have been using lots of rhymes, songs and games to support this. We have been sorting and matching and have also been making our own patterns.

In literacy we have been studying the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We have focused on pencil control, letter formation, writing our name and writing simple CVC words. We started to learn phonics and are beginning to read CVC words and some tricky words too!
We have also been learning all about autumn and the changes that happen. We have shared lots of lovely autumn stories and songs and explored the insects we find.
In RE we celebrated Harvest and performed our song ‘Dingle, Dangle Scarecrow,’ at St Mary’s Church. We also looked at the story of Creation and gave thanks for all of the wonderful things that God has given us.
Wow what a busy half term and we cannot wait to continue our learning next half term. Please continue to support your child with the things that we are learning. Thank you for your involvement. It really makes a difference
